POSTANE is a space dedicated to hosting socially, environmentally, and urban impact–oriented initiatives as well as collective cultural productions. The project centers on the adaptive reuse of the historic British Post Office building in Galata, where a team of architects and designers came together to work on its transformation.
The engagement with the building began at the restoration stage, allowing each team to investigate the building’s characteristic elements and construction techniques. As floors were opened, walls stripped back, and the structure left to rest, the building revealed original features that informed design decisions. The vaulted ceilings, recessed niches, unique motifs, and gridded timber window frames each became generative elements in the reimagined interiors.
